SWAT, K-9 demonstrations at police G.A.I.N. event Saturday
The Buckeye Police Department’s annual G.A.I.N. (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Buckeye Police Station, 100 N. Apache Rd.
Lt. Phil Harris said the event, which is free and open to the public, will feature demonstrations by the department’s SWAT and K-9 units, crime prevention and Neighborhood Watch information. The police motorcycle unit will be there, as well as information on Silent Witness and other programs.
Harris said the event is geared for families, with many games and services to make it fun for both adults and children. Kids will be able to play games that will be sponsored by Buckeye’s Parks and Recreation Department.
The Police Department will also have a table set up to give families free identification kits for their children. And a Buckeye Police Identification Technician will also be available to fingerprint kids.
Vehicle owners who sign up for a free auto theft prevention program will receive a free steering wheel lock, Harris said. Police will also VIN etch some vehicles on a first come, first served basis, and officers will give tours of the Police building.
Police Chief Bob Daniels will also be on hand to greet citizens and discuss what services they want their police department to provide.
