Buckeye’s mobile library, the Bookmobile, is getting a makeover. Thanks to generous financial support from the Friends of the Library, a new mobile wrap will be added to the Bookmobile and unveiled at the Summer Reading Program kick-off pool party, May 26 at 12 p.m. at the Buckeye Aquatics Center, 207 N. 9th St.
The new graphics on the Bookmobile will feature six different native Arizona animals set against a desert background, including a coyote, turtle, roadrunner, falcon, jack rabbit and snake. The commissioned artist, Dan Budzban, is a local teacher and graphic artist. He has worked with world renowned cartoonist, Guy Gilchrist who is known for his work with Jim Henson’s Muppets.
The Bookmobile is the city’s “library on wheels”. This mobile library provides many services to residents without having to travel to one of the two city libraries. At the Bookmobile, residents can get a library card, check out and return books and even pick up book requests on location.
The Bookmobile visits various locations throughout the city each month. To find out when it will be in your area, visit the Buckeye Public Library’s online calendar.
