On May 22, Buckeye Public Works staff stopped by the Sienna Hills Campus of the Odyssey Preparatory Academy to showcase the importance their work plays in the daily lives of our community.
Students from kindergarten through fifth grade were able to climb on some heavy equipment, learn about the variety of services the city provides and ask questions about the different careers available in the public works field.
Professionals from street maintenance, facilities, engineering, trash, recycling, water, sewer and construction were on hand and provided students a behind-the-scenes tour of what it takes to keep their city clean, beautiful and operating smoothly.
All of duties these different departments provide to residents are vital to their health, safety, comfort and quality of life.
National Public Works Week is designed to connect with local communities to increase public awareness of the contributions public works professionals provide to residents every day. It’s sponsored and created by the American Public Works Association.
