Buckeye is now listed as one of the top ten safest cities in Arizona, according to a report by the National Council for Home Safety and Security. Overall, the city ranked as the tenth safest in the state, and took the number two spot on the list with populations of over 50,000.
In order to identify the safest cities in Arizona, the council reviewed the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics, along with population data and internal research. Qualified cities were ranked base on the number of both reported violent crimes and property crimes per 100,000 people. The variables were weighted with violent crimes accounting for 70 percent of the total and property crimes accounting for 30 percent.
As the population continues to steadily increase in Buckeye, the crime rate has fallen; which is a nearly unprecedented trend in law enforcement across the country.
“This is really a collective effort between our public safety agencies and the community,” said Buckeye Police Chief, Larry Hall. “We have a great community that is actively engaged in sustaining a safe environment for our citizens and leadership dedicated to maintaining and enhancing that environment.”
