The city of Buckeye placed in the top five in two separate lists this week. In the “Crime in Arizona 2016” report released by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Buckeye was listed as one of the top three for lowest crime rates per capita in the metro Phoenix area.
In the DPS report, Buckeye had the lowest rate for violent crimes per capita and the third lowest rate for both property and total crimes per capita. This is no small accomplishment since the city was also recently named the seventh fastest growing city in the country by the U.S. Census Bureau.
“The ability to reduce crime in Buckeye while our population increases is a testament to the entire Buckeye Police Department,” said Mayor Jackie Meck.
The city also made the list as one of the top five places to raise a family according to Elite Personal Finance. Safety was one of the main criteria for this survey, but it also included community features, recreation, education and employment opportunities.
Buckeye continues to provide excellent city services and events to residents. Our award winning Police, Fire and Public Works departments and Skyline Regional Park, combined with affordable housing and year-round family friendly events are just a few of the many reasons why our residents make Buckeye their home.
