City of Buckeye Recreation Manager Miranda Gomez has been awarded the Young Professional of the Year Award from the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association.
The award was presented to Miranda at the APRA Annual Awards on August 9. According to APRA’s website, the award recognizes achievements and accomplishments of young professionals in the field of parks and recreation.
Miranda was recognized for her leadership and vision in recreation and in the success of the Buckeye Marathon, which raises funds for the Youth Scholarship Fund. The fund provides scholarships for youth and older adults to participate in recreational programs. She was also instrumental in Buckeye’s Community Services Department being awarded accreditation from the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA).
“Miranda is one of those incredibly hard working people – passionate and dedicated to the field,” said Robert Wisener, Buckeye’s Conservation and Project Manager. “I’m constantly amazed how she juggles so many competing priorities and consistently shines in everything she tackles.”
Please join us in congratulating Miranda. The city of Buckeye and our residents are lucky and proud to have you.
