When Scott Tijerina was hired as the city of Buckeye’s Facilities Maintenance Supervisor in 2003, the population was less than 25,000. Since then, Buckeye has grown to nearly 70,000 people and the city’s facilities have grown from less than 50,000 square-feet in 16 buildings, to just under 500,000 square-feet in nearly 40 buildings.
Throughout that time, Scott has led the facilities maintenance team as it grew from two employees to a team of five today. While the growth of his team has not kept pace with the growth of the city and its facilities, Scott and his team have continued to exceed the demands required of them as they consistently ensure that all city facilities remain in top shape throughout the year.
Scott was recently nominated by his supervisor and city of Buckeye Public Works Director, Scott Lowe to be featured in the American Public Works Association (APWA) Reporter. Due to his undeniable work ethic and dedication to making Buckeye a better place to live, work and play, Scott was featured in the Recognize Your Leaders section of the September edition.
Please join us in congratulating Scott and showing him how proud we are to have him as a dedicated member of the city of Buckeye staff.
