Buckeye Community Services will soon be offering Fit & Strong! classes thanks to grant from the National Recreation and Park Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Fit & Strong program was developed by the Center for Research on Health and Aging, and targets adults over age 50, or residents with lower extremity osteoarthritis.
The classes offer a new type of physical, low-impact exercise program to better manage, or prevent arthritis. They also decrease joint pain and stiffness, reduces anxiety and depression and develops and maintains a healthy lifestyle.
Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:45 to 10:15 a.m. starting June 1 at the Buckeye Community Center, 201 E. Centre Avenue in Buckeye. Each class includes 60 minutes of exercise, followed by a 30 minute group discussion on a variety of health topics.
To sign up for classes, please contact Phil Yabes, Buckeye Community Center Manager at 623-349-6604 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org
