Biography
Brian McAchran was recently elected to a four-year term on the Buckeye Town Council, representing District 1.
Councilmember McAchran was employed as a police officer for the Farmington (NM) Police Department for 10 years and with the Buckeye Police Department for three years before retiring in August 2007. While with the Farmington Department, Councilmember McAchran served in various positions, including operations supervisor for the regional narcotics task force, emergency operations coordinator, SWAT tactical entry element leader, honor guard coordinator, patrol supervisor, detective, SWAT member and police officer.
Councilmember McAchran holds an associate degree in law enforcement from San Juan College in Farmington. While with the Farmington Police Department he received the Medal for Merit, for actions taken during a SWAT incident that resulted in the apprehension of an armed felon who was fleeing following the shooting of a law enforcement officer, and the Owen Landeck Training Award for designing and implementing an Active Shooter Response training program.
Councilmember McAchran currently serves as a liaison on the Parks and Recreation Board, the Library Board, the Social Services Board and the Cemetery Committee.
Councilmember McAchran lives in Buckeye with his wife of 10 years, Christy, and their children, Mackenzie and Chad.
