Main Function
The GIS Division is responsible for collecting and maintaining both spatial and attribute data that
enables the Town to manage our inventory of physical assets, maintain and enhance our
infrastructure, and manage growth in an orderly and organized fashion.  Moreover, the GIS Division
provides all Town Departments with cartographic products for publication and/or presentation, and
conducts spatial analysis on behalf of Town Departments where appropriate.  We are a small
Division of two full time staff, but have extended our influence through the creation of "virtual" staff
that have joined our ranks with programmatic expertise in other areas (e.g. Planning and Public
Works).  At the current time we are working in a desktop editing environment, but as Town offices
relocate to a centralized location we will be exploring a server-based "enterprise" GIS deployment.
