Biography
Raymond Strauss was recently elected to a four-year term on the Buckeye Town Council representing District 4. Councilmember Strauss serves as the Council's representative on the Library Advisory Board and the Social Services Advisory Board.
Councilmember Strauss had the experience of living in Hawaii, New York, Nebraska, Japan, Connecticut, and Oklahoma due to his father's career in the Air Force. He graduated from Memorial High School in Edmond, OK and went on to Oklahoma Baptist University where he earned a full tuition scholarship running sprints on the track team. While there, he was named as an 11 time All-American and 2 time National Champion. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree, he attended Seminary at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Before moving to Arizona in June of 2007, Councilmember Strauss served as Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Senior Pastor at churches in Oklahoma and North Carolina. He and his family chose Buckeye as the place to sink their roots, raise their family and start a new church. The Church at Sun Valley first met in November of 2007, and began meeting at Festival Foothills Elementary School in January of 2008. With his leadership and guidance, the church has established itself as an integral part of the Community, striving to meet the physical, social, and spiritual needs of the people of Buckeye.
Councilmember Strauss has helped to start a Community Food Pantry in Festival Ranch as well as community sports and recreation. He enjoys spending time helping the people of Buckeye and Festival Ranch. He is a member of the Festival Foothills Elementary PTA and volunteers at the school regularly.
Councilmember Strauss lives in Festival Ranch with his wife of 12 years, Christina, and their three boys.
