Buckeye’s Police Department recently received two separate grants from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for DUI enforcement efforts. The first grant for $42,755 will cover overtime expenses for officers assigned to the DUI Task Force throughout the West Valley.
The DUI Task Force’s goal is to reduce alcohol and drug related driving, fatalities and injuries through enforcement, education and public awareness. The Task Force is scheduled for various locations throughout this holiday season.
The second grant for $7,755 is being used to purchase new impaired driving enforcement equipment – four breathalyzers and an Accuvein system to simplify blood draws.
Keeping the streets of Buckeye safe is a high priority for the Buckeye Police Department. These grants will provide the tools and manpower needed to target impaired drivers and other serious traffic violation offenses.
