Buckeye’s Public Library launches its annual Summer Reading Program this year with a pool party, Friday, May 26 at 12 p.m. at the Buckeye Aquatics Center, 207 N. 9th St.
As part of the festivities, the city’s Bookmobile will reveal its new look – a colorful new wrap designed by local teacher, artist and graphic designer Dan Budzban. Budzban’s credits include working with renowned artist, Guy Gilchrist, from Jim Henson’s Muppets characters.
The pool party and Summer Reading Program marks the beginning of the city’s well-established yearly literacy program that encourages kids, teens and adults to read over the summer and connect with their libraries through a series of programs and events.
The theme of this year’s Summer Reading Program is “Build a Better World” and will feature more than 40 free events and programs, such as weekly performers (magic, animals, balloons, science, art and more) and movies.
Participants in the reading program are encouraged to earn points by reading and attending programs and will be given opportunities to win prizes by earning 1,000 points.
