Post Date:09/23/2018 2:51 pm
Buckeye recently topped the list as the number one city in Arizona with the best income equality, according HomeArea.com. The company used U.S. Census data from its 2017 American Community Survey for the findings.

Income equality was measured based on housing, employment, commute, education and demographics in each city with a population of 60,000 residents or more. The lower the number, the more evenly income is distributed on a pre-taxed basis.

A more detailed breakdown of the criteria included:
  • Housing - Median home values, monthly costs, rent, etc.
  • Employment and commute - Median household income, unemployment rate, poverty rate and commute time
  • Education - High school and college graduates, post graduate degrees, etc.
  • Demographics - Single, married, children, etc.
“We’re proud to top this list,” said Buckeye Mayor Jackie Meck. “Buckeye is a diverse community with a variety of excellent housing options for every income level. The city also provides nearby recreational opportunities and activities for all walks of life. No matter where you live in Buckeye, it’s a great place to live and raise a family.”

This is first year Buckeye made the list. Earlier this year, Buckeye became with fifth fastest growing city in the county with populations of more than 50,000. HomeArea.com begins ranking income equity for cities with populations over 60,000. Buckeye’s current population is approximately 75,000.
