Buckeye Motorcycle Officer Involved In Accident

UPDATE - March 28, 2019 - 12:15 p.m.

The Buckeye police officer involved in yesterday serious accident remains hospitalized in intensive care. He underwent successful surgery last night on his broken leg and has additional broken bones and contusions. He is stable at this time.

The Buckeye police department appreciates the outpouring of support and concern and asks that you to keep this officer and his family in your thoughts.

The accident is being handled by Goodyear Police Department so any updates on that investigation should be directed to Goodyear PD.


On Wednesday, March 27, 2019 shortly before 1 p.m., a Buckeye police motorcycle officer was involved in a serious collision at Verrado Way and Canyon Drive.

The officer was responding to a medical emergency call at a local elementary school. The officer was traveling north on Verrado Way when the crash occurred. The other vehicle involved is a white Jeep. The Goodyear Police Department is handling the accident investigation and reconstruction. Questions about the accident should be directed to Goodyear P.D.

The Buckeye Fire Department responded to the scene and treated the officer. He suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries and was air lifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix. The driver of the white Jeep was not hurt, but shaken-up. 

The 35-year-old male officer has been with the Buckeye Police Department for 9 ½ years.

Buckeye Police Chief Larry Hall and Assistant Chief Bob Sanders are with the officer’s family at the hospital.
