Chief Hall 2020Message from Chief Hall on COVID-19

The City of Buckeye has just declared a local emergency, paving the way for swift action and additional federal funding to manage the spread of COVID-19.

The Buckeye Police Department takes the current health risk of COVID-19 very seriously. We support the Centers for Disease Control’s guidelines and encourage all our residents to follow them. It is a confusing time, with information and guidelines changing frequently. BPD wants to be your constant in this tenuous time. BPD is working closely with our City, County and State partners to inform our response, and we will continue to do so moving forward.

It is our job to maintain public safety. That will continue to be our mission. As a law enforcement agency, we do not have the ability to postpone or suspend essential activities. That is why I am committed to reducing the likelihood of exposure to our personnel.

While our lobby remains open to the public, our fingerprinting program has been suspended. Until further notice, we have also put a hold on our ride-along, Explorer, and Volunteer programs.

Callers to 911 and BPD’s non-emergency number may be asked a short series of questions to determine if responding officers could potentially be exposed to infectious disease. As a precaution, you also may see more officers than usual wearing protective gloves or face masks. For minor calls for service, you could be notified that your call may be handled by phone.

The response to this pandemic is unprecedented at the federal, state and local level. The temporary societal changes will no doubt create inconveniences for many, but they are necessary to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on our community. We will get through this together.

BPD has made adjustments to practice social distancing and encourage self-care and all of the other guidelines set for personal responsibility during this time.

In a true emergency, dial 911. We are here for you.

Thank you and please, stay healthy.

Chief Larry Hall
