Brothers arrested for organized retail theft
A pair of brothers has been arrested after a string of thefts from several Buckeye retail stores. The brothers admitted to the crimes as way to fund their drug habits.
On Sunday night, July 14, 2019, Buckeye police were called to the Beall’s Outlet on Watson Road just south of the I-10, regarding a shoplifting. The officers were given a description of two suspects, both of whom were located at a nearby convenience store with some of the stolen items.
With the help of employees and security personnel from both Beall’s and Walmart, the officers were able to piece together that the brothers, Michael and Bryan Velazquez, were tied to a total of five recent retail thefts from several stores in the area.
Both witnesses and surveillance video confirmed the involvement of the suspects.
They were booked into the Maricopa County 4th Avenue Jail on a number of felony charges.
These kinds of arrests show the cooperation between Buckeye police officers and our partners at our local retail stores.
