The 2019 Buckeye Air Fair, Outstanding Special Event recipient, partnered with the Copperstate Fly-In, creating an “educational conference” for general aviation pilots. These pilots and their aircraft provided variety of static aircraft displays where the public could interact directly with the pilots. This was a new feature for the Air Fair.
The event also featured an Arizona Sci-Tech Festival, hosted nearly 600 5th and 6th grade students to learn about airport, aviation and the science behind them, 4 historic military encampments, 75 aviation exhibitors and a two-hour, live air show with three separate acts.
Attendance at the Air Fair increased 250 percent, with approximately 30,000 people in attendance.
The popularity of Skyline Regional Park created the demand to provide more than 300,000 visitors annually with public outdoor programs to understand and appreciate the natural beauty of the park.
The free classes include guided hiking tips and adventures, desert survival guides, stargazing and a full range of recreational education classes. These classes were possible through the city’s partnerships with a variety of agencies. More than 3,500 people benefitted in 2018 from these programs.
The Arizona Parks and Recreation Association is non-profit organization made up of professionals from local city, state and county parks, private recreation agencies, HOA’s, golf courses and businesses.
