Water Resources Public Meeting
Buckeye residents are invited to Water Resources public meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at West-MEC, 500 N. Verrado Way to learn more about a proposed $3.05 flat fee increase.
Residents will also have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with staff after a short presentation and provide written comments.
On November 5, 2019, the Buckeye City Council approved a request from staff to move forward with a Notice of Intent to create a new proposed repair and replacement fee and submit a loan application to help pay for the necessary repairs and replacement of the city's aging water infrastructure.
If approved, the loan provided through the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA), will assist with funding the repair and replacement of water lines, wells, reservoirs, valves and other infrastructure associated with the Broadway Road Water Campus project.
Updated equipment will use the newest technology in the industry, which will greatly improve water quality.
WIFA issues loans at a lower interest rate than traditional municipal loans, saving the city millions of dollars over the life of the loan. To provide additional financial stability to secure the WIFA loan, the city is proposing a monthly $3.05 repair and replacement fee for every metered water customer, beginning in February 2020.

In additional to this public meeting, the Buckeye City Council will hold a Public Hearing on this proposed fee as part of their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. at Buckeye City Hall, 530 E. Monroe Ave.
