Buckeye Library Specialist named Emerging Leader of the Year
Buckeye is proud to announce Library Technology Specialist, Jesse Simms, as the Arizona Library Association’s 2019 Emerging Leader of the Year. An award reserved for someone who shows exceptional promise as a leader with a positive and innovative vision.
Simms started his career with the Buckeye Public Library System in 2014 and has since secured over $120,000 in grant funding for a several technology focused programs.
Thanks to Simms, the Buckeye Public Library System now has a wide variety of technology including a Mobile Laptop Lab and a complete digital library experience with the Falcon Mobile App.
Most recently, Simms obtained a $20,000 grant to create Buckeye’s Pop-Up Library. A system that deploys five mobile hotspots around the city, providing residents with remote access e-books. Buckeye’s Pop-Up Library is the first of its kind for Arizona, just one of the many innovative ideas that earned Simms the AZLA Emerging Leader of the Year Award.
