Post Date:04/17/2024 11:34 a.m.

Woodruff death investigationBUCKEYE, AZ (April 17, 2024): Buckeye police need your assistance in an active death investigation. Last Wednesday, the body of 60-year-old Shawn Woodruff was found at the Southwest Regional Landfill. The body was among refuse that had been delivered to the site earlier that day. This particular area of the landfill receives refuse from multiple transfer stations throughout the valley, so it is unclear where the body came from. Next of kin has now been notified.

Woodruff’s body did not show obvious signs of how he died. Analysis by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is ongoing.

Woodruff was known as “Short Dog,” did not have permanent housing, and was known to most recently frequent areas around SR 51 and Thomas Rd in Phoenix. Anyone with information on his last known whereabouts and activities is urged to call the Buckeye Police tip line at 623-349-6411 or submit a tip online at www.buckeyeaz.gov/crimetip.
