2024 ReaccreditationBUCKEYE, AZ (December 11, 2024): Buckeye police were awarded reaccreditation last month by the Commission in Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The reaccreditation was awarded for law enforcement and public safety communications.

Buckeye police provided testimony to commissioners during a hearing on November 15th in Jacksonville, Florida as part of the process to receive reaccreditation for its law enforcement agency and communications center. With a unanimous vote, the commission awarded the Buckeye Police Department its third Law Enforcement Reaccreditation and its second Communications Reaccreditation.

Obtaining CALEA Accreditation is a voluntary process to ensure an agency’s high quality of service and professionalism. Accreditation is awarded every four years and involves ongoing documentation and review of policies and procedures, recruitment and staffing, training and equipment, and public input to support continued development and best practices for excellence in public safety.

“I’m proud of our team. We have the right people with the right attitude who continue to drive this agency forward,” says Chief Robert Sanders. “My hope is that reaccreditation signals to our community that we are committed to helping people and meeting the highest standards for public safety service.”

The Buckeye Police Department was originally awarded law enforcement accreditation in 2016 and public safety communications accreditation in 2019. To learn more about accreditation, visit www.calea.org.
