Buckeye police awarded DUI abatement grant

Post Date:01/29/2025 7:44 a.m.

BUCKEYE, AZ (January 29, 2025): The Buckeye Police Department was recently awarded grant funds to help combat impaired driving. The $50,000 DUI abatement grant came from the Oversight Council on Driving or Operating Under the Influence Abatement (DUI Abatement Council) in partnership with the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

The funding will enhance DUI enforcement activities throughout our community by covering overtime for officers working task force operations, conducting saturation patrols and participating in additional assignments to keep roads safe during holidays and special events. The funds will ensure appropriate officer staffing to help reduce traffic violations including distracted driving, impaired driving and speeding which can increase risk of crashes.

The Buckeye Police Department’s goal is to reduce devastating and deadly crashes even as our city rapidly grows. Thanks to the Oversight Council on Driving or Operating Under the Influence Abatement (DUI Abatement Council) in partnership with the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Buckeye police have additional resources to support proactive traffic enforcement and community education.
