IMG_3775-2BUCKEYE, AZ (February 5, 2025): Buckeye police honored a City of Buckeye Public Works employee for helping officers on an incident involving a violent suspect. Paul Ramos was awarded the Meritorious Community Service Award last Wednesday for his actions during a November 2024 stolen vehicle call.

Just after 10 a.m. on November 27, 2024, Buckeye police responded to an area near Baseline Rd and Central Blvd after receiving a report that a man had stolen a City of Buckeye truck from a work site and crashed it into a parked vehicle down the street. Paul Ramos, a City of Buckeye Public Works employee, witnessed the crash and called 911. As the suspect got out of the wrecked truck, he attacked Ramos. While defending himself, Ramos was able to take the suspect to the ground and restrain him until officers arrived. The suspect then assaulted two officers as he was placed under arrest. He was ultimately booked into jail on multiple felony charges.

Buckeye police value the contributions of our community and colleagues. In assisting officers, Ramos risked his own safety and prevented the suspect from causing more harm. Deputy Chief Charles Bezio awarded Ramos, and the officers who responded to the November 2024 call were also on hand to express thanks.
