Grant helps Buckeye police combat impaired driving

Post Date:08/12/2025 9:53 a.m.

BUCKEYE, AZ (August 12, 2025): The Buckeye Police Department was recently awarded grant funds to help combat impaired driving through next spring. The $20,000 grant from the DUI Abatement Council in partnership with the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety helps cover enforcement costs.

Impaired driving puts everyone at risk and continues to be a top enforcement priority for the Buckeye Police Department. Task force operations supported by grant funds allow Buckeye police to team up with regional law enforcement partners to regularly boost traffic enforcement coverage across our city. This most recent DUI Abatement Grant provides more than $14,000 for overtime and more than $5,000 for employee-related expenses to continue these operations in FY 2026.

The Buckeye Police Department’s goal is to reduce devastating and deadly crashes caused by impaired driving and other traffic violations. We thank the DUI Abatement Council and the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for supporting proactive traffic enforcement and community education to keep our roads safe.
