Buckeye City Council selected Doug Sandstrom as the next City Manager during their regular meeting on Tuesday. Mr. Sandstrom has been a Deputy City Manager for Buckeye since January 2024, and has over 30 years of municipal government experience, focusing on finance, administration and continuous improvement.
As one of Buckeye’s current deputy city managers for the past 18 months, Sandstrom quickly cultivated strong relationships with City Council, city leadership and staff, regional partners and the community. A few of his recent accomplishments include successfully leading the passage of the 2024 GO Bond effort, collaborating with developers on updated Impact Fees and fostering relationships with labor associations.
“Doug Sandstrom is the logical choice to continue leading Buckeye into the future,” said Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn. “He can transition seamlessly into this role and continue focusing on the city’s strategic plan, goals, vision, mission and values.”
“I am excited to be Buckeye’s next City Manager. I am looking forward to doing my part to accelerate Buckeye’s current upward trajectory through collaboration, enhanced employee engagement, transparency and teamwork that will strengthen our reputation as the community of limitless possibilities,” said Sandstrom.
Doug has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from St. Cloud State University.
His contract was approved at the August 26 Buckeye City Council meeting. His annual salary will be $310,000, and he will begin his duties immediately.
