Post Date:12/03/2025 10:23 a.m.

BUCKEYE, AZ (December 3, 2025): Buckeye police have released new video of a police canine assisting the November 21, 2025, arrest of a sex offender who followed a 12-year-old girl to a school bus stop. Buckeye Police K9 Echo is doing better after breaking teeth during the incident.

When spotted by Buckeye police officers, the suspect ran and hid in a backyard. Officers used less lethal rounds with a chemical agent (similar to pepper balls) and a distraction device (commonly known as a flashbang) before sending in K9 Echo to assist. The suspect soon emerged to peacefully surrender. He was evaluated for knee pain before he was booked into jail on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender plus charges of harassment and trespassing.

It appeared K9 Echo had bitten down on some debris during the incident, causing him to lose one of his front teeth and chip a canine tooth. K9 Echo is healed and back on patrol.

The video can be viewed on the Buckeye Police Department YouTube channel.
