Buckeye police launch program to keep seniors safe

Post Date:02/11/2026 8:30 a.m.

BUCKEYE, AZ (February 11, 2026): Buckeye police have launched a new program to help keep local seniors safe. Buckeye Cares allows seniors to enroll for weekly check-ins from Buckeye police personnel to ensure they are well and to offer assistance if needed.

Buckeye Cares is a voluntary program for seniors who live alone or are homebound and reside within the City of Buckeye. Buckeye police volunteers call enrolled seniors at a designated day and time every week for a wellness check. If the calls go unanswered, volunteers call the senior’s emergency contact to gather more information. If the senior’s wellbeing is still not verified, volunteers or officers visit the senior’s home to attempt contact.

"It is a program which will reap numerous rewards,” says James Subjack, HOA President for the Sundance Active Adult community. Subjack collaborated with Buckeye police in developing the program. “If it saves only one life, it will have forever proven its worth.”
