Buckeye police arrest suspect in shots fired incident

Post Date:04/30/2026 8:04 a.m.

BUCKEYE, AZ (April 30, 2026): Great detective work and Buckeye police technology resources led to an arrest in a recent shots fired incident in Verrado.

Just after 10:30 p.m. on April 21, 2026, Buckeye police responded to a shots fired call near Verrado Way and McDowell Rd. Witnesses reported seeing someone in a white pickup truck fire multiple rounds in a parking lot before taking off. No one was hurt, and no damage was reported. Officers recovered multiple shell casings in the area.

During the investigation, detectives developed a suspect description. Utilizing cameras and license plate readers within the Real Time Information Center, investigators tracked down the white pickup truck Tuesday afternoon near the Sundance golf course. That’s where they detained the driver, 34-year-old Michael Rumsey of Salome, Arizona, who was later arrested and booked into jail on a charge of discharging a firearm in city limits. A handgun was seized during a search of the truck.
