Truth in taxation public hearing

Post Date:05/14/2026 3:38 p.m.

Buckeye's City HallThe city of Buckeye is holding a public hearing at their regularly scheduled City Council meeting on June 2 at 6 p.m., 530 E. Monroe Ave., to provide an opportunity for residents to comment on the total amount of property taxes collected by the city from one fiscal year to the next.

Buckeye’s total revenue from its primary property taxes will increase approximately $357,396, or a two percent increase over last fiscal year. The increase is due to the rise in the total assessed property values in Buckeye from the Maricopa County Assessor’s Office.

This proposed revenue increase does not include any primary property taxes received from new construction, any changes that may occur from property tax levies, voter approved bonds or budget and tax overrides.

The proposed tax increase will change Buckeye’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to $155.68.

The public hearing is open for comment to all Buckeye residents. Residents can complete a comment card to provide input on the proposed property tax agenda item. The City Council Agenda and Council packet will be available by the close of business on May 29, 2026 at buckeyeaz.gov/meetings.

Truth in Taxation Hearing: Notice of Tax Increase

In compliance with section 42-17107, Arizona Revised Statutes, the City of Buckeye is notifying its property taxpayers of the City of Buckeye’s intention to raise its primary property taxes over last year’s level. The City of Buckeye is proposing an increase in the primary property tax levy of $357,396 above the TNT levy amount or a 2.00% increase.

The proposed tax increase will cause the City of Buckeye’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to be $155.68 (total proposed taxes including the tax increase). Without the proposed tax increase, the total taxes that would be owed on a $100,000 home would have been $152.62.

This proposed tax is exclusive of increased primary property taxes received from new construction. The primary property tax is also exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides. All interested residents are invited to attend the public hearing on the tax increase that is scheduled to be held June 2, 2026, at 6 p.m., at the City of Buckeye City Hall located at 530 East Monroe Avenue.

It is the City Council’s position that the City’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home will remain at $180.00 or less per year as it has the last 13 years.

The Truth in Taxation Notice will be published on May 16 and May 23 in the Arizona Republic, Arizona Business Gazette, Republic Addition.
