Buckeye has selected Kelby Mieras as its new Community Services Director, promoting a proven leader with nearly three decades of parks and recreation experience and a strong commitment to serving the Buckeye community.
Mieras has served as the city's Community Services Deputy Director since October 2023, where he has provided leadership for the Parks, Recreation, Special Events and Senior Services divisions. In that role, he has worked closely with City Council, executive leadership, advisory boards and community stakeholders to advance departmental priorities while ensuring continuity of operations and delivering high-quality services for residents.
Before joining Buckeye's executive leadership team, Mieras served as the city's Parks Manager, overseeing operations for one of Arizona's fastest-growing park systems. Prior to relocating to Arizona, he spent more than 20 years with the City of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, including serving as Park Operations Manager.

His collaborative leadership style and familiarity with Buckeye's organization and community will help ensure a smooth transition as the department continues to grow.
"I am honored to serve as Buckeye's Community Services Director," said Mieras. "This department plays an important role in enhancing quality of life for our residents through parks, recreation programs, special events and senior services. I look forward to continuing to build on the great work our team has accomplished and helping meet the needs of one of the fastest-growing communities in the country."
Mieras holds a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture and Geography from Northwest Missouri State University and will begin serving as Community Services Director on July 21, 2026.
