BUCKEYE, AZ (August 3, 2026): Buckeye police are stepping up patrols around local schools as students return to class. Officers are keeping a close eye on traffic in and around school zones to ensure families and faculty have a safe start to the new academic year. Remember the following safety tips:
- * Slow down! Reduce speeds in school zones where the posted limit is typically 15 mph and no passing is allowed.
- * Put your phone away. Back-to-school activity can be chaotic and unpredictable. Keep your eyes on the road watching for cars, pedestrians and cyclists.
- * Drive with care when approaching crosswalks and obey crossing guards to allow students and families to safely get to their destinations.
- * Utilize your school’s designated drop-off lanes and parking. Avoid parking in neighborhoods or blocking traffic.
Help us keep our community safe by staying alert and allowing for extra time and patience for drop-off and dismissal.
