Between 2019 and 2023, 241 people lost their lives or have been seriously injured on Buckeye’s streets. Each one of these tragedies could have been prevented, and together, we can build a safer future for everyone.

Buckeye is committed to improving safety and ensuring accessible, connected transportation for all residents. With support from a grant from the United States Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All Program, the city is developing a comprehensive Transportation Safety Plan to enhance safety as the community grows. The Buckeye Transportation Safety Plan will make our roadways safer by reducing and preventing fatal and serious-injury crashes.

The Transportation Safety Plan is now complete! Reach out to the Buckeye Transportation Safety Plan Project Team at COBTraffic@buckeyeaz.gov if you have any comments or questions.

The Buckeye Transportation Safety Plan was completed in three phases:

  • Discovery & Analysis
  • Strategy Development
  • Final Plan Development
Phase one was completed in February and consisted of gathering information about the conditions of the transportation system and ensuring alignment of the Transportation Safety Plan with other existing plans. Phase two (ongoing) involves developing potential strategies/solutions and determining their viability, and phase three involves presenting the Transportation Safety Plan to the City Council for adoption. Once the Transportation Safety Plan is approved by City Council, it will be made available for residents to view.
