The Buckeye Development Code is a regulatory document that provides direction on how development or redevelopment will occur within Buckeye.

It acts as an incentive to promote economic development and attract business and industry while also promoting quality of life and creating a healthy community for residents.

The Development Code is a key tool to implementing the revised General Plan, and requires periodic updating to adequately deal with the changes in scale of development in Buckeye. To learn more about the Development Code, please contact the Planning & Zoning Division by email.

Development Code Update

The Buckeye Development Code is a regulatory document that outlines allowable uses, development standards, setbacks, zoning, design standards, regulations for signs, subdivision requirements and additional standards for new projects in Buckeye. In 2023, the city (alongside consultant Logan Simpson) began a multi-phase code update, the first major code update since 2010.

The first phase of the update was adopted by City Council on February 20, 2024. After receiving feedback from various stakeholders, members of the public and the Planning and Zoning Commission, the second phase of the update was adopted by City Council on October 21, 2025.
