Field Archery & 3-D Walking Courses
Construction of the archery ranges to expand outdoor recreation is currently underway, made possible through grant funding from the Arizona Game and Fish Department in partnership with the city of Buckeye.
This project will feature a 20 target walking course with distances ranging from 15 to 100 yards, along with a standing field course offering distances from 5 to 60 yards designed to support archers of all skill levels.
This project is anticipated to be completed by June 1, 2026 with additional updates and class details to be shared on the Joe Foss Shooting Complex website as progress continues.
History of Joe Foss
The Joe Foss Shooting Complex opened to the public in 2009 and has been operated by various non-profit organizations. Since the Buckeye Hills Regional Park and Joe Foss Shooting Complex are located on BLM land, the range must be operated by either a government entity or non-profit.
On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the Buckeye City Council unanimously approved a 20-year agreement with Maricopa County Parks and Recreation to manage the Joe Foss Shooting Complex within Buckeye Hills Regional Park. This agreement will allow Buckeye to operate and maintain the facility for both law enforcement training and public use.
