Jr Lifeguard Class
We are no longer hiring lifeguards for the Summer 2026 season. Recruitment for Summer 2027 positions are expected to begin in February 2027. Please check back for updated job postings, certification opportunities, and hiring information.
Why A Lifeguard
- Lifeguarding is a fun and serious job
- Great interaction with the residents and the community
- Lifeguard pay is higher than pay for other part-time jobs
Getting Started
Sign up for the lifeguard certification training class. Certifications are through StarGuard Elite. The class is offered to those interested in becoming a certified lifeguard. Obtaining certifications does not guarantee job placement.
Participants must come prepared to swim each class session and attendance is mandatory for all classes. Certification is awarded after successfully completing the exams. Failure to pass final skills tests and written exams does not allow for refunds. StarGuard certification is valid for one year.
Job Opportunities
Summer positions are also available at the Buckeye Aquatics Center. Visit the city's career's webpage to find out more.

Start building your swimming skills today! The city of Buckeye offers a wide variety of swim lessons at different levels. It is important for students to be registered in the proper level. Please use the age and skill guidelines to help determine the appropriate level. Participants must meet the skill prerequisites to remain in class. Those enrolled in the incorrect level will be moved, space permitting.
A minimum of four participants is required to conduct the class. Children not potty trained must wear swim diapers under their swimsuit. Regular diapers are not allowed in the pool.
Registrations are accepted online or at the Dr. Saide Recreation Center and at Sundance Recreation Center Monday - Friday; 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Residents: $20 a session
Non-Residents: $30 a session

It is the city of Buckeye Recreation Division policy that no refunds will be issued after the start of the course. All refunds must be requested four business days prior to the start of the course. A $2 processing fee will added to each refund request.
Inclement Weather Policy
The aquatic center will be closed during inclement weather. If the pool is closed and lessons, classes, programs or open swim times are cancelled, refunds will not be given and make up classes will not be offered. Always call ahead to verify pool closures.
Buckeye Pool Days welcomes organizations to sponsor the pool for an entire day that allows the local community to swim for free! Pool Days are also a great opportunity to host an information table, promote water safety and water demonstrations to the Buckeye residents.
