Lower Hassayampa Sub-basinIn response to the Arizona Department of Water Resources Lower Hassayampa Sub-basin Groundwater Model, Buckeye is working diligently with water experts to review the nearly 300 pages and various files. Once Buckeye has the opportunity to fully review the ADWR report, we will be able to respond and provide our input.

It is important to note that every home or business currently developed in Buckeye has a 100-year assured water supply. Any new developments, including shopping centers, homes and businesses cannot be built without having a 100-year assured water supply, unless it is build-to-rent community. Buckeye’s water future is not in danger, and it currently has the resources to sustain our existing customers and projected growth that already have certificates of assured water supply.

Buckeye is committed to responsible and sustainable growth and working to ensure we have adequate water for new businesses and residents, while protecting our existing customers. The city has already taken major strides toward water conservation with the implementation of the Water Resources Master Plan, Drought Management Plan and Water Conservation Code updates.

Buckeye will continue to be at the forefront of water conservation solutions and the city is excited to work with the governor’s office to participate in the Water Policy Council and help modernize and expand on the Ground Water Management Act.
