The City Attorney's Office is comprised of two divisions: the civil division, which is operated by the City Attorney and represents the city in civil matters and the criminal division, which is operated by the City Prosecutor and handles the prosecution of misdemeanor crimes committed in the city of Buckeye.

City Attorney

The Buckeye City Attorney, Scott McCoy, was appointed by the City Council and serves as the legal counselor and advisor of the Mayor, City Council, city management and each of the departments. The City Attorney’s Office represents the city of Buckeye in all legal proceedings.

The City Attorney's Office (Civil Division) duties include drafting and reviewing ordinances, resolutions, leases, contracts and preparing written legal opinions and correspondences.

The City Attorney’s Office cannot provide legal advice or representation to individual persons or businesses on private or city related legal matters.
