Jared Askelson brings over 25 years in government finance experience serving at both state and municipal levels. His career highlights include strategic planning, investment management, financial reporting, procurement, budget planning, utility billing and implementing city code and impact fee updates.

Askelson is right at home in Arizona, having previously served in key roles for the cities of Goodyear, Surprise, Mesa and Casa Grande. His history and deep understanding of the state's municipal landscape, coupled with his leadership capabilities, will be instrumental in Buckeye's continued growth, financial stability and strategic development.

Mr. Askelson has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Arizona State University West.

David Roderique served as the Economic Development Director for the city of Buckeye from July 2017 until 2022. Since 2022, Dave was appointed to serve as the Deputy City Manager, and currently oversees all development related functions.

Prior to that, he served as Associate Principal of Gruen Gruen + Associates, a national real estate and economic consulting firm, where he specialized in economic and fiscal analysis, economic development strategic planning, predevelopment entitlement, marketing and implementation support.

Between 2008 and 2016, he served as the President of the Downtown Phoenix Partnership, a Business Improvement District whose mission is to provide enhanced services to the core area of downtown Phoenix. From 1985 and 2008, Dave worked for the city of Scottsdale as the General Manager of Economic Vitality, where he oversaw the city’s economic development, redevelopment, tourism and business divisions. Prior to his service with Scottsdale, he worked in corporate real estate in San Francisco, and as an economic/real estate development consultant in Tucson.

He is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), and has received many awards and accolades, including the “Economic Developer of the Year”, the “Economic Development Organization of the Year”, and the "William Lampkin Long Term Excellence in Economic Development" awards by the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED). He was the co-recipient of the city of Scottsdale “Bill Donaldson Award” (employee of the year), and has been acknowledged by the Phoenix Business Journal as one of the Valley’s “Most Influential Business Leaders”.

He has served on a variety of boards, including the Urban Land Institute Arizona District Council and the Herberger Theater. He is the Chairman of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council’s E.D. Director’s Team, is a graduate of the Scottsdale Leadership program and is active in a variety of other community groups. His memberships include the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED). Mr. Roderique received both BA and MA Degrees in Geography and Regional Development from the University of Arizona, and he has continued his education through such programs as the IEDC Economic Development Institute and Harvard University’s executive/professional program.

Javier has over thirty years of experience in municipal government where he oversaw the operations and the delivery of capital projects for public works, water, wastewater, sanitation, fleet, facilities and other disciplines requiring regulatory compliance. Most recently, he was the Public Works Director for the city of Goodyear.

“This is a great opportunity to be part of one of the fastest growing cities in the country,” said Setovich. “The new leadership and energy in Buckeye is being noticed throughout the Valley, and I look forward to contributing to the city’s future.”

He has a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering Technology from California Maritime Academy, Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and is a registered professional engineer in Arizona.
