The Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Cemetery recently held a grand opening celebration on May 16, 2019 marking the official opening of four new sections to the north of the existing cemetery plots. This expansion project was years in the making and several departments and volunteers were instrumental in making it a success. The expanded area adds at 5,311 full size plots for the citizens of Buckeye! Currently, the plots are available for purchase through the City of Buckeye Fire Administration Office.
The Buckeye Municipal Code requires vaults for full size plots in the new section only. While the cost of the plots will remain the same, customers will see an additional expense in purchasing a vault. On April 16, 2019, the City Council was presented with information regarding the cemetery expansion and new cemetery fees. A public notice of intent to establish cemetery fees was posted on the City's website on April 17, 2019. The public notice is also available here Public Notice of Intent to Establish Cemetery Fees. The final approval of the new cemetery fees are scheduled to go before City Council on June 18, 2019 and will become final on July 18, 2019.
The new cemetery fees are a result of the vault requirement, new columbarium niches, disinterments, and our new adopt-a-bench program.
There will be a community columbarium available to customers later this Summer which allows for another option for the respectful interment of loved ones' cremains.
Please feel free to take a look at the new section at anytime or call the Fire Administration Office at 623-349-6170 with any questions regarding the Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Cemetery. You can also schedule an appointment to meet with the Cemetery Manager, Brandyn Stewart at the Fire Administration Office located at 21699 W. Yuma Rd., Ste. 101.
