The historic 1927 truss Gillespie Dam Bridge spans the Gila River and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The interpretive center gives insight to Arizona’s transportation history.

Powers Butte Wildlife Area spans 1,120 acres along the Gila River with abundant plant and wildlife. This area offers many opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast, including hiking, birdwatching, hunting and fishing.

Important: An agreement that allowed public access to the Powers Butte Wildlife Area along Robbins Butte Game Road expired on November 10, 2025. The gate is now closed to the public. The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) is working to establish alternative access to the wildlife area and the public will be updated if any changes occur.

Robbins Butte Wildlife Area is a 1,600 acre riparian habitat nestled along the Gila River that draws in large populations of wildlife. Ruins and petroglyphs paint a picture of the past as you take in the expansive views from atop Robbins Butte.
